events for businesses with a consumer credit licence

the financial ombudsman service and you...

an invitation to businesses with a consumer credit licence

We are running a series of special events around the country for businesses with a consumer credit licence - giving these businesses the opportunity to find out more about how we work and what we do at the Financial Ombudsman Service.

From 6 April 2007, all businesses that hold a standard consumer credit licence must, by law, comply with new complaints-handling requirements. This affects a wide range of businesses including:

  • businesses whose main activities are lending, credit broking, debt collecting etc
  • businesses such as motor dealers, furniture retailers etc, where consumer credit is secondary to their main activities.

From this date, these businesses will all be covered, by law, by the Financial Ombudsman Service.

to find out more about what this will mean to you, why not come along and meet us at one of our free events, taking place all around the UK

Each event begins at 10.50am. There will be a presentation at 11.00am (lasting approximately 50 minutes), followed by an informal question and answer session. We will be available at each venue until at least 1.30 pm - so if you cannot make it to the presentation, you can come along to meet us and pick up copies of our publications.

There's no need to book - just turn up on the day at the venue that's most convenient for you. We will be organising more of these events - so please keep checking this page for venues local to you.

For more information about what the new complaints-handling requirements mean for businesses with a consumer credit licence, see our section on frequently-asked-questions (FAQs) about consumer credit complaints.
